Proud to say that my jewelry line had humble beginnings. It started as a personal crafting project that I worked on in the closet underneath my stairs. A bonafide Harry Potter-esque story. It was my creative outlet that I worked on in the wee hours of the night and went from a passion project to my full time career after lots of hard work.
As the line grew I needed more space to work. Needless to say, I outgrew the closet. I then took over the living room and eventually took over the dining room and living room making the entire downstairs of my apartment in LA my home office. It worked for quite a while!
The line is still handmade in LA but I’ve recently relocated to the Bay Area after getting engaged (woohoo!).
My fiancé and I live in a condo in the heart of Oakland, the East Bay and I was set with the task of designing the room that would become my second home office.
I started with a French Sofa that my fiancé, Jon already had and a Sugar Paper x Target exclusive desk that I bought before they sold out!
The feel I wanted to create was a warm, neutral and feminine space with bits of gold accessories to make it subtly sparkle.
One thing I was sure of was that I wanted to have a gallery wall with each picture holding a meaning behind it so that each time I looked at it, I would be reminded of something.
Thankfully, Minted came to my rescue with their new Art Styling Service. I teamed up with them to help me create the perfect gallery wall and I am SO happy with how it turned out.
To give you some perspective – this is what I started with
Now on to the process of how I worked with Minted
First, I took a survey through Minted to help define the style of pictures and color scheme I wanted to go for. During the survey you upload photos of your room and the wall that you want to put your gallery on and you give them the measurements so they can help guide you on the size of frames for your pieces. At this point you can also give them the dimensions and send images of any pre-existing art that you want to incorporate into your gallery wall.
Next, based off of my survey answers I got an email from Minted with a preview of two different gallery walls in different price ranges. This was SO helpful because one of the main things that I was having trouble with was deciding on the dimensions
After that, you can browse through Minted’s website to change up any of the pictures that were placed into the gallery wall preview until you feel it’s just right. One of my favorite things about Minted is that they work with TONS of independent artists from around the world so all of the artwork that you buy is supporting an artist.
Tip: Make sure to ‘heart’ or favorite any pieces that you like or also, copy and paste the link for the piece into your notes on your computer. It can be hard to find the same piece if you don’t save the info on it in some way.
Last step, you’ll receive a rendering with your final mock up of the gallery wall (see below) and you’ll also receive an attachment with detailed instructions on how to hang each piece. Even with these instructions I hired on a handyman through task rabbit to hang everything. I highly suggest this. The great news is that everything you order through minted gets shipped to you fully framed and ready to be hung! They really take out the bulk of the work. Whew!
Rending of the wall before finalizing the purchase
I can’t say enough good things about Minted. The truly were instrumental in making my gallery wall dreams come true.
After adding a Fiddle Leaf Fig, fresh flowers + more greenery the office has been transformed into a bright, beautiful space that inspires me every time I step foot into it.
You can see more pictures and details about what art pieces I chose from Minted in my interview with Inspired By This. I hope you liked taking a look into my office space!
