Jewelry Care Tips for the Summer: Keeping Your Pieces Sparkling
Katie Dean, July 02 2024
The summer season a wonderful time to show off your favorite jewelry pieces! For one thing, that glowing sun makes them sparkle oh so beautifully. For another, with all those cute halter tops and bathing suit tops, it leaves the perfect canvas for you to layer up your necklaces and put them on full display. We say "oui-oui" to that! Here are some tips to keep your jewelry sparkling throughout summer and beyond.
1. Limit Water Exposure: Chlorine, saltwater, and even freshwater at times can damage your jewelry. Remove your pieces before swimming or taking a shower. If your jewelry does get wet, no stress, just dry it thoroughly with a soft cloth.
2. Wipe Away that Sweat and Sunscreen: Sweat and sunscreen can cause buildup on your jewelry, making it look dull. Clean your pieces regularly with a gentle jewelry cleaner or a mixture of mild soap and water. Use a soft brush to remove any residue. If you're desperate just use a toothbrush!
3. Store Properly: When you're not wearing your jewelry, keep it in a cool, dark place, such as a jewelry box or a cloth pouch. To prevent scratches and tangling, a lot of people like to store each piece of their jewelry separately. You can use a jewelry box with compartments or individual cloth pouches. For delicate chains some people say that laying them flat helps avoid kinks and tangles. This is especially true for Herringbone chains. So just keep that in mind.
4. Travel Tips: When traveling, use a jewelry roll or a travel case, like this one, to keep your pieces organized and protected. Hot tip: avoid wearing your most valuable jewelry to the beach or other areas that are known for theft.
We know it's hard to follow all of these care tips so just do your best!
