NEW Katie Dean Collection: The Artist Collection
Katie Dean, October 22 2019
I’ve always been really into pieces of art that focus around the human form. I’m constantly on Pinterest pinning framed artwork focused around the line drawings of faces and bodies. I think it goes back to my college days in art history when I spent a lot of time looking at statues and paintings from artists that were really simple but so profound.
This passion for human art form became like a magnetic pull and I started to see lots of ladies sporting button-down shirts or t-shirts that had a line drawing of a face or figure on them too. So, I just had to make my own version of this in jewelry form—I started sketching line drawings of a face, the pieces took shape from there, and The Artist Collection was born!
The Artist Collection is a bit more eclectic than the rest of the KDJ jewels but that just makes me love the Artist Collection even more! It keeps with our dainty, feminine vibe while holding its own ethereal, artsy twist:
The Artist Face Ring & The Artist Face Stud Earrings
I purposefully made the ring and earrings in the Artist Collection a bit bigger while still keeping them dainty and minimal with the thin wire-esque look of them. I also decided to hammer the tops of the earring and ring to make them glisten ever so beautifully with the light. The Artist Collection puts some diversity into the KDJ collection with pieces that are slightly bigger than our normal tiny studs and rings.
The Artist Face Necklace
I specifically made the necklace 18 inches with two additional inches of extension chain so that it can go up to 20 inches in total. This means that it can be layered beautifully with our shorter KDJ necklaces. So this is literally the perfect addition to the KDJ necklaces that you already own because it will layer up with your other dainty pieces really nicely.
These three pieces from The Artist Collection are meant to be seen and hopefully start a conversation with the person standing in line next to you while you’re waiting to order your morning coffee! Plus, I want you to feel inspired to go out and try something new. To throw a pot on the wheel at your local ceramics studio, pick up a canvas and brush and paint a picture just for the fun of it, or wear that scarf that you got when you were abroad but have been too shy to add into your normal rotation.
All in all, I want this collection to inspire you to start creating. Make something, anything! The world needs your creativity and I hope you enjoy these new KDJ beauties as much as I adored creating them!
