Monochromatic: How to Pull Off the Single-Hue Style
Katie Dean, April 18 2019
You know those lazy days when you pull on a pair of black, ripped jeans, slip on a black V-neck t-shirt, strap into a pair of black summer sandals, and throw your black leather handbag over your shoulder? Yep, you just did a monochromatic look!
Seriously though, for me, the joy of pulling together a monochromatic look is not so much about the seemingly “lazy” approach since it’s far from it, it’s more about pulling together a thoughtful look that uses different shades and tints of the one color that looks chic and not too old school.
And since we’re striding headlong into summer, I just had to go for a fresh neutral look to lighten things up and raise my monochromatic game with a bit of denim on denim. This cute white denim skirt plus the white denim jacket hanging elegantly across the shoulders equals feminine and street-chic in my books! The subtle show of bare midriff helps to break up the all-white effect and brings balance between the denim pieces and the fitted white tank top. And I adore these Chanel espadrilles to elevate the whole look into a carefree, Sunday-stroll vibe (cute basket bag with yellow flowers helps too!).
Oh! And while you’re busy dressing head-to-toe in one cool hue, don’t forget the “finishing touch” which, for me (naturally!), is always some classic, dainty jewels like the vintage-inspired, Eight Pointed Star Necklace, sparkles from the Moon Necklace, and a four-stack party of rings with RSVP’s from the following: Beaded Ring + Hammered Band Ring + Claw Ring + Love Triangle Ring.
XOXO,
