After years of hustling, sleepless nights, looong days and lots of hard work, I've come to a decision: it's ok to take a holiday... and not work! For the first time ever, I'm taking a summer vacation (helllooooo Amalfi Coast!) and having my team to do the same. But when you LOVE what you do or you’re just used to skipping self-care, it’s not quite that straight-forward...
How many times have you said you're going to 'take a break' and instead end up opening up Instagram or Facebook and checking out what other people are doing instead of choosing something that enhances you in a different way? I can honestly say that I do this all the time! Way more than I'd like to admit.
While I love social media (and it's a huge part of our business), I also want to go out and live life, not just watch it being lived by other people. While I'm passionate and devoted to what I do, it's become a priority for me to take breaks—whether that's making sure I get outside for a walk, stop and smell the roses, take 20 minutes to call family or have a summer holiday, it's something I'm intentionally doing these days. It may sound like common sense but it's easier said than done!
From the outside looking in, KDJ looks like a huge company and while that's a great feeling, the truth is we're a small but mighty team. Lots of work is on the shoulders of a handful of people. That’s why from May 24th until June 10th you'll be able to place orders but no orders will be shipping until June 15th (it’ll be worth the wait I promise!).
I realize this is pretty unconventional and may be a business faux pas to some but for me, I know it will only make myself and my team stronger. We'll get in the much-needed relaxation and come back revitalized, refreshed, and ready to serve up even more of those beautiful dainty jewels we love most! And most importantly, I hope it inspires you to take that much-needed break too—whether it’s an all-out summer vacation or some alone time at your favorite cafe—make yourself and your self-care a priority.
So tell me, what are you going to do to relax and recharge?
